An open reading.
No memorised meanings.
We begin by landing together and getting to know each other a little. I light a candle: now we are entering the symbolic space. We take some breaths, ground, and feel into what wants to be looked at today.
Then we lay three cards in what’s called an open reading. I don’t tell you what the cards mean. I ask what you notice, perhaps a figure looking to the right, a colour, an animal at someone’s feet, and follow your words with simple, curious questions. The meaning comes to us through you.
The body comes in through visualisation, and sometimes through embodiment: feeling where something lives in your body and letting it take up space.
The reading ends when clarity is found. Usually there’s a sense of having found an answer and, ideally, an action you can take: not only something that reveals, but something that opens.
If the moment is open for it, you might leave with a ritual to carry out in your life. Like a rite of passage, it can complete an unfinished movement and help you leave dead weight behind. For example: carrying objects from your mother and father ten kilometres into a forest, burning them, and planting the ashes in two plants that you then send back to your parents.
These rituals are inspired by Alejandro Jodorowsky’s psychomagic and metagenealogy.
Before we finish, I blow out the candle: now we are leaving the symbolic space.
